HTET 2013 exam Paper Leaked : Lecturer among those held for cheating

CHANDIGARH: The modern methods of cheating and desperation for not missing a chance for a government job were evident during the entrance test of Haryana Teaching Eligibility Test (HTET) in the city.
Five persons including four girls and one government lecturer with Haryana education department were arrested for cheating and misleading the investigative agency during the HTET exam on November 6.
Interestingly, a government lecturer Sanjeev Kumar had hired a qualified girl Sonia for appearing on behalf of his wife Neelam of Panipat district. Accused Sanjeev is posted at Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Achina in Bhiwani district.
Police said when impersonator Sonia was nabbed on suspicious grounds; accused Sanjeev had provided a wrong cellphone number of parents of his wife Neelam, on whose behalf Sonia was appeared. The invigilator became suspicious about Sonia because she did not resemble the face on the roll number card of Neelam.
Accused Sonia has appeared in the examination centre in Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 22, and accused Sanjeev was apprehended from outside the school. Accused Sanjeev, Sonia and Neelam were produced in a local court and released on regular bails on Monday.
The wife of lecturer Sanjeev, Neelam was arrested from Panipat on Monday. Sub-inspector Rajeev Kumar said, "During questioning impersonator Sonia confessed that she was hired by Sanjeev for appearing in place of his wife."
Police have also established the identity of associates of Nisha Tushir and Sumit Devi, who were found cheating through their cellphones. Nisha and Sumit were apprehended on the basis of suspicion and the cellphones were recovered from their possession in examination centre in GMSSS-26.
Sub-inspector Baljinder Singh said, "Sumit was receiving text messages of answers from somewhere in Sonipat district and Nisha's cellphone was on during the exam." He said both accused girls have been sent to judicial custody,
Cops suspect HTET paper leak
Chandigarh police are suspecting that the question paper of HTET was leaked before examination. Investigation of one of the arrested accused girls, Sumit Devi of Sonipat, revealed that she was receiving SMSs containing answers from a youth while sitting in Sonipat on November 6. A senior cop said, "Scrutiny of cellphone of Sumit revealed that she did not send a single message. Thus, it's evident that the sender of the messages already knew the questions." He added, associates of both accused girls would be arrested shortly
